Summer Ball Raises £27,000 for Charity

James Capel's speech at Simply Waste Solutions' Summer Charity Ball

To celebrate our landmark 10 year anniversary, we held a black-tie Charity Ball at the prestigious Tower of London in which £27,000 was raised our chosen charity; Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. The donations will help care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

The party, held at the iconic Tower of London on the evening of July 1st, was attended by 400 of our customers, suppliers and employees, and was sponsored by Scania, Vehicle Weighing Solutions, Weber, Dennis Eagle, Waste Logics, Refuse Vehicle Solutions and Innovative Safety Systems.

From very humble beginnings a decade ago, we have grown from a 2 truck start-up into a company with an annual turnover close to £30 million, a fleet of over 50 vehicles and now more than 100 employees. The evening celebrated this success and took the opportunity to thank all of those involved. We will also be displaying special livery on 2 of our new trucks in further support of Shooting Star Chase.

Speaking at the Ball, James Capel, Simply Waste Solutions’ Managing Director, commented:

“Simply Waste couldn’t have possibly achieved the success it has without the support of our people, suppliers and customers. This party not only celebrates our success so far but, in so doing, has allowed us to raise money for Shooting Star Chase which offers much-needed care and support for very sick children and their families”.

Sylvia La Porte, Corporate Relationships Manager Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, said:

“Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to have been selected as a charity partner by Simply Waste Solutions. The 10th-anniversary celebration at the Tower of London was a wonderful event to launch the partnership and gave us the opportunity to raise awareness of the vital services we provide”.
