Simply the best
In 2014, Simply Waste was named as the winner of “The Waitrose Way – Treading Lightly Award for Waste Reduction”. This was both a proud moment and massive achievement for us.
Working to beat tough targets, Simply Waste, the John Lewis Partnership and other work partners have together achieved a 95% diversion from landfill across the board through minimising waste, rationalising services and using the cleanest and greenest disposal methods. One of the most recent initiatives saw us implement bespoke recycling management systems into the JLP Head Office, including the use of on-site operatives to ensure the highest level of recycling is achieved through intense sorting of the waste materials.
The Partnership has also become a founder member of our wider initiative, the Simply Cups recycling scheme. Coffee Cup recycling will be added to the list of individual waste streams that the Head Office is separating to ensure that the highest level of recycling is attained.
Pictured above is our MD, James Capel accepting the award from Nigel Keen, Director of Development for the John Lewis Partnership. “Investment into both our vehicle fleet and back office systems enables our customers to transform the way they behave about waste. It provides them with a direct incentive to cut waste streams across their business because if they throw less, they pay less.” James Capel, Managing Director
Simply Waste has been shortlisted for a number of prestigious industry awards including the National Recycling Awards and the Resource Revolutions Awards. Simply Cups, our paper cup recycling scheme, scooped the Waste and Recycling Project of the Year at the 2015 BusinessGreen Awards (pictured below: Peter Goodwin of Simply Cups receiving the BusinessGreen Award).
Simply cups has also been nominated for a host of other awards including the 2degrees Champions Awards, the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management, the Footprint Awards, the Vendies, the Sustainability Leaders Awards and the CIWM Awards.
